Samhain Offering (Alastar)

I call to the spirits of my kin
When the veil between the worlds becomes thin
With no fear at heart I enter the rite
When the day is over and begins the night
Incantations and evocations are sung
As loud as I can from the depth of my lung
The incense is burning, the smell has filled the room
The smoke is forming... the spirits appear soon

The sage purifies the air
There is a shade behind me that stare
Will you appear from the smoke of sage
Whole my altar is your stage
And I offer up something thou can feed upon
For a year cycle is too long
So I invite you to my hearth and home
Under the protection of old crone

Light the candle for the dead
To enlight their way back and warm their bed
On the eve of samhain night
I call upon an unseen wraith
Spirits of the Earth, water, air and fire
I need you in the circle for the Halloween is nigher
Sentinels of elements
Leave behind all sentiments
For they have many names
They come from the thinning veils
And I feel their cold embrace
The ancient ones speak through the whisper
Their eyes glister...
In the candle light and shadows
In the moment that follows

Spirits haunt this magic hour
Offer them a scentful flower
They dwell in trees
And their whispers in the breeze
I talk to them and ask to guide me
I invite them to come and find me
Talk to me about the present and the past
I bind them to me with spell I cast
I offer up my love to thee
Hear and obey my mournful plea
I want to feel your presence in the mirror
Your image in my memory slowly wither
I have not seen thy face too long
It is for thee I sing my Samhain song.

Álfar, the Hidden folk and Midsummer Night (from the series personal feasts)

Introduction The Midsummer Night is an interesting feast for me, not only because of the customs from the land of my childhood but also because of the various wonderful stories about the hidden folk.  There were occasional stories about encounters with the hidden folk; interestingly, these stories had some commonalities. Sure, we might say, these people got drunk at night and that was all story. It is just that the narrative, which I heard with my own ears several times, was not from a drunk.  I am not able to guarantee that all the stories I was referring to took place on Midsummer's Night. Some stories may be, but my story certainly did. So, my witness was returning home at midnight on St. John's Night through the boonies and met a big bonfire and people in historical costumes. They invited him to join them. There was merriment, dancing, singing... all a good time. He felt awfully comfortable there and after what felt like 10 minutes, he asked if he could bring his wi...

About the vampyric magic

I ask the amiable reader to take this article as an introduction to an exciting approach to magic. When I write about the concept of "vampiric magic" I mean an introduction that can be applied successfully in any magic with any focus on magic, not something special. To write about vampirism in magic is to write about a topic that is controversial in itself because most people immediately think of fangs, streams of blood, hypnotizing others, and in the worst case, unorganized manipulation. I am not going to write about the fact that this includes sawing teeth (performed professionally by a dentist), robbing blood banks, or the bad habit of letting your hypnotized victims levitate. I no longer intend to fulfill the pop culture idea of a vampyre or a vampire, nor do I aim to reflect on whether someone should be a vampyre, or feel like a vampire, and I will no longer discuss the so popular topic of adolescent youth, how to become a vampire. I am not kidding with you, there exis...

The magic of blood

First of all, I want to say that blood is not necessary for magic, not even necessary. Blood in magic is a superstructure. Simply something extra if you hold the view that at certain times and in certain rituals it is more than appropriate. It is absolutely not appropriate to force yourself into this practice for any reason. Magic will survive without blood because there are many other ways and directions in which you can self-realize in magic. I'll point out things that can be used to replace blood as well. There it will be more about the symbolism of blood.  We associate blood with life and the colour red is its symbol. Often this colour alone is enough because there is a connection with the symbolism of blood. It is the colour of the runes, the various seals that we animate. Often red wine is used symbolically instead of blood (the more ferrous the better).  For practical effects, it must be remembered that the blood itself does not stay red for long, but its colour ...
